I've decided to make a new journal for ranting, bitching, and general I-hate-the-world... ness.

Considering what my life is like at the moment, I imagine it will currently have more entries and be updated on a more regular basis than this one.

Because I expect some/many of the things I write in there to be, shall we say... controversial, I've decided to make it a friends-only journal.

This doesn't mean that I'm going to ignore you all, it means that if you add that journal as a friend, or comment on the entry requesting it, I'll add you as a friend on that journal. That is if you want to be depressed by my depressing entries of course. This is also why I wont be adding anyone unless they want me to.

The story of the Hare and the Tortoise.
Or the Tortoise and the Hare.
Whichever way you call it, that's what I'm talking about.

This is a fable, with a moral. What's the moral? Apparently, according to research, it's: "Slow and steady wins the race."

WHAT. THE. FUCK?!

That's is so totally NOT the moral of that story! Whichever moron jumped to the idiotic conclusion that "slow and steady wins the race" was a fucking retard.

The REAL moral of the story of the Tortoise and the Hare is something along the lines of "Don't take stupid, pointless and unnecessary risks until you've accomplished your goal."

The Hare was just on the verge of winning the race, he was so close and then - like someone who DESERVES to be killed and turned into pot pie - he decided to have a "nap". Being careless, he fell asleep.

He could have won the race easily, but decided to take a risk, just because he thought he would increase the challenge, by letting the Tortoise catch up a little, or what?

He fall asleep because he was stupid and careless, he chose to do that instead of just winning the race when the finish line was so close, he was practically already there, and won. But decided not to. For whatever moronic reason he had. SO. HE. LOST.

The Tortoise won only by default, to show that taking stupid and totally pointless risks WILL MAKE YOU LOSE. You can't have a moral of a story, based on the idea of a race, with only one participant.
I'll say that again: The Tortoise was only there as a story device to show how the Hare could lose by the Hare taking a needless, unnecessary risk.

Does anyone need that re-clarified?

If I had the time, motivation and - most importantly - ability, I would love to write a Stargate Atlantis/(4th) Dr. Who crossover fanfic mini series.

Purely because I think Taela and Leela would make a fantastic team.

Today I've had three - THREE people shoot down my dreams of going to University and getting a University degree.

Well fuck them.

I am - read: AM - going to New Zealand at the start of next year, and if my university plans go all pear-shaped (like people seem to expect), fucked up and shitty I'll go and join the New Zealand army instead.
